March 1-3, 2013 in Vancouver BC
Posted on February 3rd, 2013 by Elizabeth
We are super excited to bring a special dance opportunity to Vancouver. Samantha is not only a great dancer but she can teach!! When several of us attended a couple of her workshops at Bridgetown Swing dance convention last year, we were blown away by her classes. She has an organized, fast-paced, and seamless style of teaching that keeps you focused during the class and gives you excellent material to take away and use in your dancing. This weekend, her new dance partner Andrew Slac is going to be joining her!
I hope you take advantage of this great opportunity to learn new material and grow as a dancer.
These workshops are all for the intermediate or advanced dancer (sorry, no beginner classes this time).

About Samatha Buckwalter
Samantha Buckwalter began dancing at the age of 10 under the guidance of her mother Kelly Buckwalter Casanova. Her competitive dance career began in 2001. Since then, she has earned her points up from the Junior, Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced Division to her current position competing in the AllStar/Champion Divisions around the world. Samantha was fortunate to study under the SwingDaddy himself, Mario Robau Jr., where she assisted him in workshops and intensives both in the US and abroad.
During 2009-2010 Samantha moved to London and taught weekly classes, workshops, and events all over the UK in an effort to help the Swing community grow. Since 2008, Samantha has been traveling all over the world competing, coaching, and teaching West Coast Swing. Some of the many countries she has visited include: England, Scotland, Austria, Russia, Spain, Italy, and Australia.
About Andrew Slac
Andrew Slac is a professional Lindy Hop, West Coast Swing and Hip Hop teacher, dancer and choreographer from Portland, Oregon.
“I’ve been dancing the majority of my life. The first dancer I really latched on to was Bob Fosse, then Salah Benlemqawanssa and basically every single other dancer I saw after that. I’ve trained with the best, and still attribute my passion and success to Steven Mitchell and Virginie Jensen (http://www.stevenandvirginie.com/).They gave me the spirit, and I can’t thank them enough. After that, I soaked up all of the training I could, traveled, competed and taught. My life is basically amazing.”
“My purpose is to raise up those around me and make them realize and appreciate just how incredible they are, on and off the dance floor.”
“If I could give someone a bit of advice about dance, it would be to look for that perfect moment in any dance, whether it be a class, performance or just a night out on the dance floor. Let go of everything and just live.”
He currently manages Nonsense Dance Company (http://nonsensedance.webstarts.com/), choreographing and training in Hip Hop, Contemporary and Jazz. Andrew primarily teaches out of Vega Dance + Lab (http://www.vegadancelab.com/), located in Portland, Oregon.
